MOJO'S SECOND HALF COMEBACK VEXES VIPERS
AUGUST 19th- The Permian Panthers started off the 2016 season in dramatic fashion on Friday, pulling off a stunning 21-20 come-from-behind victory over the Vandegrift Vipers.
Vandegrift- making their debut in Class 6A after a successful run in 5A- shocked the visiting Panthers by taking advantage of consecutive MOJO miscues with two first quarter touchdowns. The Vipers added a field goal to their tally in the second quarter to make the score 17-0. The Panthers finally started to get things going when Kobe Robinson capped a 67 yard drive with a touchdown run from four yards out. MOJO went into the break down 17-6, but momentum was shifting.
The second half was classic old-school MOJO. Vandegrift took the kick and seemed to be on track for another touchdown before the MOJO defense rose up to force a field goal attempt. The kick was good, and Vandegrift increased their lead to 20-6.
From there, it was all Permian. RB Jaime Garza- who up until now had been held out due to a minor injury suffered in last week's scrimmage- came in to provide a spark to the Panthers offense. Long runs by Garza and Robinson set up an eight yard touchdown by Garza. Steen then hit Garza for the two-point conversion and MOJO was back in the game at 20-14, with momentum clearly on their side.
As the fourth quarter began, the MOJO defense rose up to snuff out another Vandegrift scoring threat. With the ball back in Permian's possession Garza would stun the Vandegrift defense again, busting through the middle of the Viper's defense for a 40 yard run. From there Robinson capped the drive from three yards out for his second touchdown of the evening. Jacob James' extra point attempt was good, and for the first time all night MOJO was in control 21-20.
Vandegrift got the ball back with plenty of time to retake the lead. But the young MOJO defense- starting four sophomores- rose up one more time to dash their hopes of victory. The Vipers were able to drive down into Permian territory, and with six seconds left lined up for a 47 yard field goal attempt. But the MOJO defense plowed through the line to block the kick, and the improbable comeback was complete.
Kobe Robinson led all rushers with 130 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Brother Miller added 81 yards, with Jaime Garza contributing 74 yards and a touchdown. Steve Steen completed three passes for 27 yards. The win gives Permian a 1-0 record.
On Thursday, the MOJO JV Black team defeated Midland Lee Maroon 13-0. JV White's game was cancelled due to weather. Freshman Black won their game vs Midland Lee 58-36, while the White team lost to Lee 12-0.

BLACK CATS CRUSH COUGARS IN EL PASO
SEPTEMBER 2nd- The Permian Panthers improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominating 61-0 victory over the El Paso Franklin Cougars.
MOJO came into the game looking for improvement after a turnover-marred performance in Austin for Week One. They would get improvement and then some, scoring on all but their final possession while committing no turnovers. Steve Steen hit Brother Miller on a 74 yard catch-and-run on the second play of the game, and the Panthers never looked back. After the defense forced a quick three-and-out it only took three plays for Steen to strike again, capping a 55 yard drive with a 13 yard QB keeper. Steen would rack up his second rushing touchdown on the next series, this time from seven yards out. The opening period ended with MOJO up 21-0.
Hunter Hawkins tallied the first touchdown of his career on the following Permian possession, with Steen throwing a perfectly placed pass to the senior captain from 26 yards. Later in the quarter, Steen drove the dagger even deeper into the Franklin defense with a 64 yard touchdown run and another touchdown strike to Hawkins. Permian went into the break with a 41-0 lead.
The second half saw the domination continue. Kobe Robinson got into the act, capping a 65 yard drive with a 25 yard touchdown run. With a 47-0 advantage the Panthers began to substitute liberally, but with similar results. Tyler Marquez led Permian on an 11 play, 60 yard scoring drive capped by Justin Hammond's five yard touchdown run. Hammond came in at quarterback to lead the final scoring drive of the night, with Cody Woods providing the score from one yard out. The Panthers were finally held out the endzone on their final possession when the clock hit zero. Final score MOJO 61, Franklin 0.
Steve Steen ended the evening with 217 yards and three touchdowns passing, to go along with 127 yards and three scores on the ground. Ed Williams led the running backs with 69 yards on 13 carries. Kobe Robinson was the top receiver with 80 yards on three catches. Hunter Hawkins grabbed three for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively MOJO played an outstanding game, holding Franklin's high-powered offense to a paltry 52 total yards. The win gives Permian a 2-0 record.
On Thursday, the Permian Freshman Black team defeated the Monahans JV 32-27. No report on the Freshman White team.

MOJO MANUFACTURES ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN
SEPTEMBER 9th- The Permian Panthers improved to 3-0 with a 56-34 come-from-behind victory over the El Paso Eastwood Troopers.
Historically Permian has owned a six-game winning streak over the Troopers, with the last meeting resulting in a 61-8 Permian win in the area round of the 1992 state playoffs. However, the first quarter of this contest looked more like an upset in the making. Eastwood took the opening kickoff and promptly marched 70 yards to take a 7-0 lead. Permian responded with a three play drive capped by a 26-yard touchdown run by Brother Miller. The first quarter ended with the game tied at 7-7.
The Troopers took advantage of three turnovers by Permian to take command in the second quarter. A Permian fumble was recovered by Eastwood and returned to the four yard line. It only took one play for the Troopers to punch it in for a 14-7 lead. On the ensuing possession, an Eastwood defender stepped in front of a Permian pass and returned it 58 yards to paydirt, increasing their lead to 21-7. Steve Steen hooked up with Miller for a 17-yard touchdown on the next possession to cut the lead to seven. The MOJO defense would force Eastwood to punt on the next series, but another intercepted Permian pass set up the Troopers on the Permian 24 yard line. Two plays later, Eastwood cashed in on the miscue with a nine-yard touchdown run. Permian went into the break down 28-14.
Permian received the kick to open the second half, and their halftime adjustments paid off quickly. MOJO marched 59 yards in four plays to cut the margin to 28-21, with Kobe Robinson capping the drive with a 17 yard touchdown pass from Steen. From there the MOJO defense began to put the clamps on the Troopers. Preston Ellison forced a fumble to give the Panthers the ball at the Eastwood 34 yard line. MOJO was unable to convert that turnover into points, but the offense would get another shot a few plays later. Eastwood would gamble on fourth down, but Seth Higdon broke up the pass play. MOJO took over at the 29 yard line as the third quarter ended.
Kobe Robinson ushered in MOJO's fourth quarter scoring frenzy on the first play. Taking the pitch from Steen, the senior captain rounded the corner and raced to the house on a 71-yard romp to tie the game at 28-28. The Panthers then opened up their bag of tricks, recovering a perfectly executed onside kick. Less than a minute later, an 18-yard touchdown run by Steen gave the Panthers their first lead of the game. Eastwood answered with a 10-play, 67-yard scoring drive to knot the game again at 34-34, but that would be the last points the Troopers would score. Permian retook the lead after a short drive with a 19-yard field goal by Jacob James. On the ensuing Eastwood possession, sophomore linebacker Matt Jones picked off a pass at the Trooper 19 yard line. The Panthers struck quickly, with Steen finding Hunter Hawkins in the endzone. The PAT failed, but with a 43-34 lead Permian was in control. From there the MOJO defense slammed the door shut with back-to-back interceptions returned for touchdowns by Christian Tschauner and Preston Ellison. Final score Permian 56, Eastwood 34.
Steve Steen finished the game with 103 yards rushing and another 125 passing. Kobe Robinson rushed for 100 yards on seven carries, while Hunter Hawkins led the Permian receivers with four receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. Brother Miller scored touchdowns rushing and receiving. Defensively the Panthers forced four turnovers. The win gives Permian a 3-0 record.

PANTHERS POUND TIMON TIGERS ON HOMECOMING
SEPTEMBER 15th- The Permian Panthers completed their non-district slate with a convincing 55-12 win over the Bishop Timon- St. Jude Tigers from Buffalo, New York.
Bishop Timon received the opening kick and promptly fumbled on their second play, with Permian's Preston Ellison recovering. MOJO cashed in the gift right away. Sophomore running back Ed Williams got his first varsity touchdown from 21 yards out to stake the Panthers a 7-0 lead. Bishop Timon answered with a 14-play, 67-yard scoring drive. Their two point try failed, leaving the Panthers up by a point. MOJO responded with a 12 play drive, capped by Kobe Robinson's four yard touchdown run. Jacob James converted the PAT to make the score 14-6 as the second quarter began.
The Tigers stayed in the game by putting together a nine play scoring drive of their own, with their big quarterback Matt Myers toting the rock himself from 16 yards out. Another two-point conversion try failed, and Permian maintained a 14-12 lead.
That was as close as the Tigers would get. It only took the Panthers three plays to make it 21-12, with Steve Steen hitting Hunter Hawkins in stride for a 68 yard touchdown. From there the defense began to hit its stride. On the ensuing Bishop Timon possession, linebacker Matt Jones leaped up to grab an interception, setting up the Panthers in the red zone. Steen cashed it in on the very next play with a 17 yard touchdown run. James' PAT made the score 28-12 in favor of Permian.
After forcing another three-and-out, Robinson returned the Bishop Timon punt to the Tigers 24 yard line. Steen found paydirt again in one play, this time from 24-yards out. The Panthers went into the break with a 35-12 halftime lead.
The second half saw MOJO continue its domination. Permian received the second half kick and went on a seven play, 69 yard scoring drive capped by Williams' second touchdown run of the game. Desperation began to set in for Timon, and needing a score they went for it on fourth and four from their own 36 yard line. But the Panthers defense rose up again, setting up the offense with good field position. Permian answered with their third one-play touchdown drive of the game, with Brother Miller running it in from 36 yards. At that point the Panthers began to substitute liberally. Sophomore Toddrick Robinson picked off a Bishop Timon pass and returned it deep into Tiger territory. Two plays later, Williams would get his third touchdown of the game with a 17 yard run to end the third quarter. Neither team was able to find the endzone in the fourth quarter, and the game ended with Permian on top 55-12.
Ed Williams led all rushers with 126 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. Kobe Robinson rushed for 62 yards and a score, and Steve Steen added 55 yards and two touchdowns. Hunter Hawkins led all receivers with 82 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Preston Ellison forced his second fumble in as many games. Toddrick Robinson and Matt Jones had interceptions. The win gives MOJO a 4-0 record.

SECOND HALF SLIP UPS SPELL DISASTER FOR MOJO
SEPTEMBER 23rd- Permian dropped their District 2-6A opener on Friday, as the Frenship Tigers rallied from an 18 point halftime deficit to defeat the Panthers 40-28 in Wolfforth.
The game started out as many had for the Panthers this season. Brother Miller got MOJO on the board first, taking a toss from Steve Steen and breaking several tackles on his way to a 27 yard touchdown. The first quarter ended with the Panthers up 7-0.
Frenship answered in the second quarter with a 13 yard touchdown pass. On the ensuing kickoff, the Panthers receiver failed to cover the ball, and Frenship recovered deep in Permian terrirtory. But the MOJO defense would stiffen, and Frenship settled for a 30 yard field goal and a 10-7 lead.
Miller struck again on the first play of the ensuing Permian drive, taking a swing pass from Steen and rumbling 74 yards down the sideline to paydirt. Jacob James' extra point made it 14-10. After a quick three-and-out from the defense, MOJO would shock the Tigers again. Sophomore Justin Hammond- subbing for the injured Kobe Robinson- took a pitchout from Steen and raced down the sideline for a 42 yard touchdown. The Panthers added another score two minutes later, with Steen capping a six-play, 56 yard drive with a one yard touchdown plunge. MOJO went into the break with a 28-10 lead.
The second half was a complete turnaround from the first. Frenship took the kick and returned it 79 yards to the Permian 19 yard line. The MOJO defense stiffened, forcing Frenship to settle for another field goal from 23 yards. Frenship would make the score 28-20 just three minutes later with a four-play, 68 yard touchdown drive. On the ensuing kick the Tigers reached into their bag of tricks, recovering an onside kick in Permian territory. Frenship moved 45 yards in six plays to get into the endzone again. The PAT failed, but just like that Permian had seen a 28-10 lead dwindle down to two points, and the Tigers had all the momentum.
Things would only get worse for the Panthers, as the offense continued to sputter and the defense began to tire. Frenship tacked on another score to take the lead after a five play, 62 yard drive. MOJO fumbled the ball away on their next possession, allowing the Tigers to drive the final nail in the coffin with a 19 yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. The game ended with Frenship on top 40-28.
Steve Steen ended the evening with eight completions for 152 yards and a touchdown. Steen added 42 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Ed Williams led Permian with 62 yards on seven carries. Justin Hammond added 49 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Brother Miller had 159 total yards and two touchdowns. The loss drops Permian to 0-1 in District 2-6A (4-1 overall).

MOJO MISSES CHANCE TO TAKE DOWN MIDLAND
OCTOBER 7th- The Panthers fell to 0-2 in the District 2-6A standings after a 49-48 loss to Midland High at Ratliff Stadium on Friday. In a high scoring back-and-forth game, it was a blocked extra point try that ultimately accounted for the final margin.
Midland showed off their quick strike capabilities early, with a long touchdown pass on their second play of the game. Permian responded with a 12 play, 74 yard scoring drive capped by Steve Steen's 10 yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7. Midland struck again quickly with a 49 yard catch-and-run of a screen pass. MOJO's offense stalled on their next series but linebacker Herb Anderson gave them another chance a few plays later, stepping in front of a Midland pass and returning it to the Bulldog seven yard line. Ed Williams cashed it in two plays later with a four yard touchdown run. The first quarter ended with the teams tied at 14 points apiece.
Permian grabbed their first lead of the game in the second quarter with an eight play, 67 yard scoring drive. Williams got his second score of the game from four yards out. Midland marched down the field in six plays to score again, and the teams went into the break knotted up at 21-21.
The Panthers and Bulldogs traded blows in the third quarter, with neither team finding the endzone. The final period was a different story. Facing 4th down and five yards to go Permian executed a fake punt, with Tanner Adams taking the snap and rumbling for 27 yards. Steen finished the drive from eight yards out, and Permian was back on top 28-21. MOJO caught another break on the ensuing kickoff when Midland's return man misplayed the ball. Permian pounced on the loose pigskin, setting up the offense deep in Bulldog territory. Steen got his third touchdown run of the game two plays later, and just like that Permian had a 35-21 lead.
Despite the sudden turn of events, the Bulldogs would not go quietly. Midland scored on consecutive long touchdown passes to tie the game once again. MOJO answered in dramatic fashion. Brother Miller took the ensuing kick and rambled 100 yards to paydirt, and Permian once again held the lead at 42-35. After another fumbled kickoff by the Bulldogs, Williams scored his third touchdown of the evening to seemingly put the game out of reach. But the point after try was blocked, leaving the score 48-35.
Midland took the ball and marched down the field quickly to pull back to within one score. With a little over two minutes remaining, Permian simply needed to run out the clock. But a fumble at the 39 yard line was recovered by the Bulldogs. Midland scored with 29 seconds remaining, and the successful PAT gave them a one point lead. The Panthers had one more chance to get into field goal range, but their final pass fell incomplete. Final Midland 49, Permian 48.
Ed Williams led all rushers with 140 yards and three touchdowns. Steve Steen added 106 yards and three scores. Brother Miller had two receptions for 22 yards, and scored on a 100 yard kickoff return. Herb Anderson grabbed an interception for the defense. The loss leaves Permian with an 0-2 district record.

MOJO LOSES BY ONE FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW
OCTOBER 14th- The Panthers fell by a single point for the second week in a row, losing to Amarillo Tascosa 21-20 on Friday.
The Panthers opened the game with a 7-play drive before fumbling the ball away at the Tascosa 22 yard line. Slot receiver Brother Miller was injured on the play, and did not return to the game. The Rebels were unable to move the ball however, and the MOJO defense forced Tascosa to punt the ball away. The Panthers were back on offense, but a pitch was mishandled on the first snap and the Rebels recovered the ball again at the Permian 20. This time, Tascosa punched it in the endzone to take an early 7-0 lead late in the quarter.
MOJO answered on the next possession with a 19 yard field goal by Jacob James. After a defensive stop, the Panthers put together a six play, 79 yard drive highlighted by a 73 yard catch and run pass from Steve Steen to Hunter Hawkins. Ed Williams finished the drive with a short touchdown run. Another James field goal at the end of the half gave MOJO a 13-7 lead going into the break.
Tascosa received the second half kick and burned up half of the third quarter clock with a 14 play, 75 yard scoring drive to retake the lead at 14-13. The Rebels would cough up the ball at their own 37-yard line on their next possession, with Permian recovering. MOJO used the remainder of the third quarter and the start of the fourth to convert the gift into points. Steen capped off the drive with a short touchdown run to give the Panthers a 20-14 lead.
The MOJO defense came up with a huge play on the following Tascosa possession, stopping an attempt to convert on fourth down. Permian took possession on their own 29 yard line but was forced to punt the ball away after a short drive. The punt pinned the Rebels at their own nine yard line with a little over two minutes remaining.
Tascosa marched the ball near midfield before busting loose on a 32 yard reverse. From there the Tascosa quarterback hooked up with his receiver for a 33 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 20-20. The extra point was good, giving the Rebels a 21-20 lead. Permian had one last chance to get into field goal range, but the Hail Mary pass was intercepted at the two yard line as time expired. Final score Tascosa 21, Permian 20.
Steve Steen ended the night with 161 yards passing, and led the Panthers on the ground with 105 yards and a score. Ed Williams added 52 yards and a touchdown. Cody Woods ran four times for 30 yards. Hunter Hawkins had two receptions for 120 yards.

MOJO MISSES PLAYOFFS AFTER LOSS TO CENTRAL
OCTOBER 21st- The Panthers saw their playoff hopes ended as they fell to the San Angelo Central Bobcats 28-14 on Friday.
The Panthers received the opening kick but could get nothing going on offense. To make matters worse, the ensuing punt only traveled 11 yards, giving Central possession at the Permian 23 yard line. The Bobcats struck quickly, covering the yardage in three plays to take an early 7-0 lead. The Bobcats added another touchdown late in the first quarter on a 10 play, 67-yard drive to go up 14-0.
The next Permian possession stalled at midfield. Jacob James gave the Panthers a positive play with a nice punt that pinned Central at their own six yard line. But the Bobcats showed why they are the 7th ranked team in the state, marching the distance of the field on a 14 play, 94 yard scoring drive to extend their lead to 21-0. The Panthers finally got their offense going on their following possession. An eight yard run by Steve Steen capped a 74 yard drive. MOJO went into the break down 21-7.
The third quarter found the Panthers playing with more intensity. The Bobcats received the opening kick but lost yardage on back-to-back plays, forcing a punt. The Panthers took possession and three plays later were facing 4th down and four near midfield. A perfectly executed fake punt- with Tanner Adams passing to Preston Ellison- resulted in a gain of 40 yards, setting up the MOJO offense at the Central 10 yard line. The Bobcats would dodge a bullet as the drive stalled, and Permian missed a 33 yard field goal attempt.
The MOJO defense came up big on the third play of the next Bobcat drive when linebacker Tyson Banks intercepted a Central pass and returned it to the 45 yard line. Permian took five plays to cover the 45 yards, with Steen throwing to Hunter Wynne for a 20 yard touchdown. Jacob James' PAT made the score 21-14 as the third quarter ended.
The Bobcats took the ensuing kick and connected on passes of 16, 15, and 25 yards to open the fourth quarter, with the last pass good for a touchdown. Down 28-14, Permian drove down the field and looked on course to answer. But the Bobcats tipped a screen pass and intercepted to thwart the scoring threat. Neither team could add to their scores for the rest of the game, with Central running out the clock on their final possession. Final score Central 28, Permian 14.
Ed Williams led all rushers with 58 yards on 17 carries. Steve Steen ran for 44 yards and a touchdown, and threw for 78 yards and a score. Hunter Wynne grabbed the touchdown pass from Steen, and ended the night with three receptions for 34 yards. Preston Ellison added 40 yards receiving on the fake punt. The loss leaves Permian at 0-4 in District 2-6A and out of the playoff race.

PANTHERS ROAR IN RUMBLE AT RATLIFF
OCTOBER 28th– Permian got back on the winning track with a 49-0 win over the Odessa High Bronchos on Friday.
For the first time in four weeks the Panthers put together a near-perfect game– except for their first possession. After taking the opening kickoff, MOJO fumbled on the first play. The Bronchos recovered at the 34 yard line, but the Permian defense bowed up to deny the scoring threat. From there the Panthers began to take care of business, going on a 12 play, 80-yard scoring drive. Ed Williams had a big run on fourth down and two to extend the drive, then Steve Steen connected with Justin Hammond on a 19 yard touchdown pass. Jacob James hit the extra point to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
The next Permian possession was highlighted by a 36 yard run by Williams and a 38 yard pass from Steen to Toddrick Robinson. Williams finished the drive with a two yard plunge, and MOJO had a 14-0 lead as the first quarter came to a close.
In the second quarter, both teams chewed up the clock on long drives that ended in punts. The Panthers got back in the endzone late in the period, with Steen finding paydirt on a 10-yard keeper to cap a seven play, 55 yard drive. MOJO went into the lockerroom on top 21-0.
The second half was much like the first. Odessa High received the opening kickoff, picking up a couple of first downs before the Permian defense shut them down. The Bronchos were forced to punt, pinning the Panthers at their own four yard line. Undeterred by the bad field position MOJO mounted a 15 play, 96 yard scoring drive. Williams and the offensive line did the heavy lifting with four straight runs out to midfield. From there, Steen hit Robinson in stride for a 27 yard touchdown pass. James’ fourth PAT in as many tries gave the Panthers a 28-0 lead.
The Bronchos were again forced to punt on their ensuing drive. Hunter Hawkins fielded the punt and returned it 31 yards before being brought down at the Odessa 35 yard line. Two plays later, Steen broke free for a 34 yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 35-0 as the third quarter ended.
Odessa High opened the fourth quarter throwing three incomplete passes, and punted down to the Permian 21. Steen got his third score of the game five plays later. Facing fourth down and one yard to go, Steen faked to Williams before cutting to the outside and breaking several tackles on his way to a 50 yard touchdown. Senior linebacker Tyson Banks delivered the death blow on the following Odessa possession, stepping in front of a Broncho pass at the 20 yard line and returning the interception for the final score of the game. Permian 49, Odessa 0.
Ed Williams led all rushers with 152 yards and a score. Steve Steen added 138 yards and three touchdowns on the ground to go along with 118 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Toddrick Robinson caught two passes for 65 yards, with Justin Hammond grabbing three for 43 yards. The MOJO defense held Odessa High to 170 total yards.

PANTHERS ROUT LEE REBELS AT RATLIFF
NOVEMBER 4th- The Panthers closed out the regular season on a high note with a 55-28 victory over the Midland Lee Rebels.
MOJO sent a message on the first play of the game when Steve Steen threw a quick pass to Toddrick Robinson streaking up the seam for a 71 yard touchdown. With just 12 seconds off the clock, Permian had a 7-0 lead. The offense continued to shine throughout the first half. Steen led the Panthers on a six play, 69 yard drive capped by Justin Hammond's 13 yard run. Senior Kade Davis- making his first start of the season- supplied the spark with a 32 yard run to set up the score. Davis came through again on the next MOJO possession, ripping off two quick runs for 21 yards to get the Panthers into Lee territory. Robinson got his second score of the game on the next play, racing around the corner on an option pitch and outrunning the Rebel defenders for a 42 yard touchdown.
With a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter, it looked like Permian was going to cruise to a victory. But Midland Lee would not go quietly. The Rebels put together an 85 yard drive capped by a seven yard touchdown run. The PAT was wide left, but the Rebs were on the scoreboard at 21-6. On the ensuing kickoff the Permian receiver mishandled the ball, and Lee recovered. From there it only took four plays for Lee to get into the endzone. The Panthers went into the break with a 21-13 lead.
Lee took the second half kick and put together a seven play, 66 yard scoring drive. Their two point conversion try was good, and for the first time since the opening kickoff the game was tied. At that point it appeared that the Rebels had all the momentum, but Permian grabbed it right back on their next possession. Steen ran the ball for nine yards on the first play of the drive. Robinson then struck again on second down and one, taking the pitch and blasting up the home sideline on a 72 yard touchdown run. Jacob James' PAT put the Panthers back on top 28-21. Davis set the Panthers up again on the next possession, ripping off a 38 yard run down to the Lee 24 yard line. Steen pushed the ball across two plays later to give the Panthers a 35-21 lead.
Midland Lee responded with a 68 yard scoring drive to get back to within one touchdown as the third quarter ended. It would be as close as the Rebels would get however, as MOJO exploded for 21 fourth quarter points to put the game away. Hunter Hawkins did the damage on the first drive with 58 total yards capped by a 31 yard touchdown reception. Steen got his second touchdown of the game on the next drive to give the Panthers a 49-28 lead with five minutes remaining. After the Rebels last ditch effort to find the endzone failed, Aaron Vasquez got his first varsity touchdown on the last play of the season. With the game clock winding down Vasquez bulled his way into the endzone from eight yards out. The PAT was not attempted, and the game ended with the final score Permian 55, Midland Lee 28.
Kade Davis led all rushers with 152 yards on 13 carries. Toddrick Robinson added 109 yards and two touchdowns on three carries to go along with his 71 yard touchdown reception. Steve Steen's 103 rushing yards set a new Permian record for quarterbacks, giving him 862 for the season. Steen also passed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. The win gives the Panthers a 6-4 record for the season.
